After just 40 minutes transfer along the volcanic chain you will arrive to the town of Chichigalpa, very much known as the land of sugar cane and Nicaraguan rum. Here we will visit a very famous rum factory and be able to learn in detail about the production, distillation and aging process of one of the most awarded rums in the world – FLOR DE CAÑA. During the tour we will be transported through six different stations on a kind of golf car run by renewable energy. During this process you will also learn about the history and manufacture of the rum having the oportunity to have a look inside a warehouse packed with thousands of barrels of rum and take a taste of the centenary 18 years from the private reserve of the Pellas family who founded this factory.

Finally we will move on into the Flor de Caña Museum/Bar & Gift-Shop. All these located inside the biggest rum barrel in the world. After that we’ll drive into Chichigalpa to observe a bit of the city architecture and daily town life before heading back to your hotel in Leon.

This tour takes 4 hours including transfers and it is available on wednesday, thursday, saturday and sunday at 9am, 11am and 2pm.
